Jewellery

What you see here are rings made according to the 'bent-wood'-principle.

Different types of wood are used: white maple and australian wallnut veneer.

The creation process.

  • The strips are cut to the desired width,
  • Steamed until soft and bendy without the grains complaining
  • Bent and glued in shape,
  • finished off with fine sandpaper
  • and as a protective coating, an amazing yacht varnish.

I've been wearing a ring for six months now, in the shower, during the washing up and working in the garden. The varnish needs reapplying, but the ring itself has held up extremely well!

A bracelet. It is amazing how it comes alive once you apply the varnish! You can see in the inside the beginning of the strip, but you cant feel it.

Three different rings.

  • White maple.
  • White maple inner with Australian walnut outer.
  • Australian walnut with inset of crushed seashell from Bretagne.
